Hope Alliance hires Britni Manry as new development
director May 19, 2009 Manry returns to Williamson County to lead fundraising efforts for domestic and sexual violence response and prevention program after five years fundraising in Dallas Hope Alliance, the domestic and sexual violence response and prevention program for Williamson County, today announced that Britni Manry has been appointed as its new development director. Manry most recently served as senior manager of external affairs for the YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas. “Britni Manry’s broad experience with fundraising and marketing for nonprofits will allow Hope Alliance to take a step forward in terms of developing relationships with donors and the community,” said Patty Conner, CEO. “I am excited to work with Britni on moving forward Hope Alliance’s vision to be a community-supported program for men, women and children surviving domestic and sexual violence.” Manry brings with her more than six years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including extensive work in the areas of fund development, media relations, advocacy, and marketing. Before joining the YWCA in 2003, Manry volunteered with the Austin-based Lance Armstrong Foundation, assisting with communications and public relations. Though Manry has resided in Dallas for the past five years, she is a native of the Austin area, having attended Leander High School before graduating from The University of Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in public relations in 2003. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return home to the Austin area and to be able to use my talents to support the community in which I grew up,” said Manry. “As the only program in Williamson County addressing domestic and sexual issues, Hope Alliance is a critical part of the community’s ability to keep its residents safe from harm. It is truly a program that deserves the full backing of the entire community because these issues affect many more families than we often realize.” It is estimated that 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. Additionally, 1 in 5 women in Texas are victims of sexual assault. Victims of domestic and sexual violence face unique challenges in their journey to moving past their trauma and building lives free of violence. Their diverse needs can include myriad medical, legal and housing services. Hope Alliance meets their needs by providing a 24-hour hotline; legal advocacy; support groups; community education; crisis intervention; court, hospital and law enforcement accompaniment; emergency shelter; counseling; and transitional housing to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Based in Round Rock, Texas, Hope Alliance is the only comprehensive program for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in Williamson County and provides services to approximately 5,000 individuals and families each year. “With Williamson County among the fastest growing counties in the nation, we are unfortunately seeing an upward trend in the need for domestic violence and sexual assault support services,” said Warren Jones, Hope Alliance board president. “Unfortunately, this is occurring within a very difficult economic climate. Because of this, the board recognized the need to increase fundraising efforts in anticipation of the agency’s future needs. We are confident that Britni is just the individual to spearhead these efforts for Hope Alliance and are happy to have her on-board.” For more information on Hope Alliances services, or to learn more about how you can become a supporter of its work, please call 512-255-1212 or visit http://www.hopealliancetx.org. |
